Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
At Greatwood, our Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum is delivered by highly skilled practitioners who lead the way in educational approaches. Our Practitioners all have an excellent understanding of Early Child pedagogy. They are constantly developing their own knowledge, skills and understanding to ensure that we are laying the foundations for future learning to build upon.
The learning environment at Greatwood plays a pivotal role in ensuring that our children experience a calm, home from home environment to explore their curiosities which build upon the children’s prior learning and their home experiences.
Our children and staff build positive relationships, this ensures that the children feel safe, happy and feel valued. The staff work in loco parentis alongside parents and carers to ensure that children are challenged and develop a natural curiosity of the world around them.
Our curriculum is based upon the prime areas of learning with an emphasis on Communication and language, high quality texts and questioning, this reflects the needs of our Greatwood children.
You will see child-led learning whereby practitioners move learning on through in-the moment planning. We place a high value on our outdoor learning and the local environment. Creativity and sustainability play a key role in our curriculum. This approach to EYFS has ensured that our children develop a love for learning.
