Headteacher's welcome
Here at Greatwood Community Primary and Nursery School, children aged 3 to 11 enjoy their learning and flourish in a safe and happy environment.
Everyone who plays a part in Greatwood life is very proud of the school and we all strive to maintain it as a fantastic place to learn and a key part of Skipton life.
I am immensely proud and privileged to lead here at Greatwood and to work with our enthusiastic students, ambitious staff, supportive parents and committed Governors. Our children have excellent learning behaviours, are eager to learn and are supported by a team of hard working, talented and dedicated staff.
Our children are enthusiastic and inquisitive learners and everyone at Greatwood is passionate about ensuring that we remain that way.
At Greatwood we provide exciting learning opportunities for all our students both inside and outside the classroom, with a commitment to enriching our student’s lives with as many varied and exciting opportunities as possible. We offer a rich extra-curricular programme with opportunities to engage in sport, music and drama amongst many other areas. Sporting, cultural and artistic events, visits to places of educational interest, residential trips and fundraising activities all make our inspiring curriculum come alive. Together, these help our pupils to grow in self-confidence, develop their social skills and achieve their personal goals.
As a relatively small school of around 240 students we are able to get to know our children and their families very well, focussing on their individual needs and working in partnership with parents and carers.
I hope that you will enjoy looking at our website and seeing a flavour of the many exciting learning opportunities that we offer to our children here at Greatwood. This website is just a small window into our ‘Greatwood Family.’ For more information please do not hesitate to contact us.
